Who we are
Dic Ann's (Dic Ann's Hamburgers) is a Quebec restaurant chain with 16 locations. This policy explains what personal information the dicanns.com website collects, why we collect it, who receives it, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights. It applies to both the French and English versions of the site.
Our head office, and the mailing address for any privacy matter, is 1345 boul. Curé-Labelle, Chomedey, Laval (Québec) H7V 2V9.
Person in charge of the protection of personal information
The person in charge of the protection of personal information at Dic Ann's, under the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), is Anthony Z., Dic Ann's.
To reach them, use the website's contact form (subject “Privacy / personal information”) or write to us by mail at the address above.
What we collect and why
We collect nothing about you unless you fill in a form, except for the audience measurement described below, which only runs if you accept it. Here is what each form asks for:
- Franchise application: first and last name, email, phone, target territory, available capital range, timeline, experience, a free-text message, the page and the source or campaign you came from, and your language.
- Contact: name, email, subject and message.
- Careers: name, email, phone, the locations you are interested in, the position, a message and, if you attach it, your CV.
- Newsletter: email, consent and language.
- Recipe sharing: name, email, recipe name, recipe text, an optional photo, and your consent to have the recipe published with your name.
We use this information to:
- answer your request;
- evaluate a franchise or job application;
- publish a recipe you shared, with your name (recipes only, and with your consent);
- send you the newsletter (only if you subscribed);
- measure how the site and our advertising perform (only if you accept measurement cookies).
We do not use your information for any other purpose without asking you first.
Who receives your information (including outside Québec)
To run the site we use service providers. Some are located outside Québec, so your information may be communicated to and stored outside Québec, notably in the United States and the European Union.
- Resend (email delivery; servers in the United States): messages generated by the forms reach us through this service.
- Vercel (website hosting; United States, with a worldwide content network): the site is served from this platform.
- MailerLite (European Union): newsletter subscribers are stored there.
- Dic Ann's internal lead-tracking tool, on a company computer in Québec: franchise applications are also recorded there.
- DoorDash: online ordering is done on DoorDash's own site, which has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to read it.
- Google Maps and OpenStreetMap: the Google Maps embed on restaurant pages and the OpenStreetMap map on the restaurants page load from those providers when you view the page, which lets them see your visit.
We never sell or rent your personal information.
Cookies and audience measurement
By default, the site sets no cookies. A banner asks for your consent before loading Google Analytics 4, Google Ads conversion tracking and the Meta (Facebook) pixel. If you decline, the site stays fully functional.
Your choice is stored in your browser (localStorage). To change it, clear the site's data in your browser: the banner will come back on your next visit.
The site's own measurement beacon does not record IP addresses; it keeps only the link token, the page and the day.
Retention
- Franchise and job applications: up to 24 months after the last contact.
- Contact messages: up to 12 months.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Published recipes: as long as they are online; we remove them on request.
- Test and spam submissions: deleted.
Your rights
At any time, you can:
- ask for access to the information we hold about you;
- ask for it to be corrected;
- withdraw your consent;
- ask for it to be deleted, within the limits allowed by law;
- ask for a copy of your computerized information in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability).
We answer every request within 30 days. If you believe we have not respected your rights, you can file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS everywhere. Access to your information is limited to the people who handle your request. We never sell or rent personal information.
Minors
The site is not aimed at children under 14. No form should be filled in by a child without a parent.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows the last change.
